Rolling Stone has posted their “50 coolest” and “50 uncoolest” albums. Out of the 50 “coolest,” I own 13 and out of the 50 “uncoolest,” I own 3. Under normal circumstances I would be terribly disappointed, considering I own 2500+ albums, and admitedly, some are not cool, but Rolling Stone has no idea what cool is. Aside from the lackluster list, each album is on a separate page (web design 101, anyone?). Anyway, it’s kind of hard for me to argue about what’s uncool since, well, I’m cool and don’t own (or know) many of their choices for uncool albums.
Here’s just a few albums they left off their “cool” list:
Nirvana - Nevermind
The Replacements - Let It Be
Elvis Costello - Armed Forces
Bob Marley & The Wailers - Legend
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced?
Belle & Sebastian - The Boy With The Arab Strap
The Doors - The Doors
John Lennon - Imagine
Big Star - #1 Record/Radio City
Meat Beat Manifesto - Storm The Studio
R.E.M. - Murmur
Jane’s Addiction - Nothing’s Shocking
Radiohead - OK Computer
Uncle Tupelo - No Depression
They Might Be Giants - They Might Be Giants
Travis - The Man Who
Pearl Jam - Ten
I could keep going, but you get the idea. How “cool” or “uncool” are you?
